I'll be at the Talkeetna Library earlier in the month, and will be be participating in a Memorial Day weekend arts fair/festival. This will be big fun!
I'll be playing fiddle and sure hope to sell a few books at this fine indie bookstore.
My first Homer event in years and years, sponsored by the Homer Council on the Arts. Expect not only a fun one, but even more surprises than usual. Want more information? It's right here (and is worth repeating): https://homerart.org/event/ken-waldman-and-the-wild-ones/ It will definitely be a special show.
The first section of the novel is set in Fairbanks, and it's where most of the music-making in the book takes place. Expect a super-fun event at the public library.
I'm not sure when it'll be airing but amid my time at 10th Planet Studios and my CD making--and my Wednesday public event at Noel Wien Library, I'll be dropping in to see Lori Neufeld to talk about the new book, and other matters, and of course to play some tunes, including Fairbanks Cabin Waltz. If it's aired later, I'll let you know! Maybe I'll have someone come by and join me. It'll be fun, and surprising, including for me.
The 33rd annual festival is its first outdoor spring festival--traditionally it's over two weekends in late January. I'll be doing a short 4 pm Ken Waldman & The Wild Ones set with an accompanist, or two, or more to give a taste of my Sunday, June 5 Folk Festival sponsored show. Definitely looking forward to it, and looking to see friends old and new.
For now it looks like I'll be doing a young ones' story time in the morning, and a generative writing workshop in the late afternoon. Looking forward to it!
We'll see who shows up--expect music-making with friends, plus enough storytelling/[poetry/performance to keep the evening moving. BYOB. The novel, Now Entering Alaska Time was started in Juneau, finished in Juneau, written mostly in Juneau, and is partially set in Juneau. It'll be a time to socialize (and buy a book or two).
I'll be kicking off Friday's edition of Juneau Afternoon, and Andy Kline will be guest host.
I'll be doing an assembly at the elementary school, then visiting at least one class.
It looks like I'll be leading a generative writing workshop at 5 pm, and then doing a 6:30 show in behalf of the new book. Looking forward to it! And looking forward to reconnecting with long-time Haines pals, and making a few new friends. I'll be in town for 48 hours! The ferry will drop me off and take me away, just like with Skagway.
I'll get off the ferry on Sunday and will do a family show at the library--especially directed for the young ones, but we'll see who shows up.
First a "secret" kids' show at 3:15. Then a program at the library co-sponsored by Skaguay News Depot & Books. This is the start of the tour to celebrate the new novel, Now Entering Alaska Time. It's the perfect conclusion to National Poetry Month!
Before my afternoon events at the library, I'll be in the bookstore signing books and playing a few tunes, all to celebrate National Independent Bookstore Day.
I'll be visiting at least two classes and meeting with students. This is sponsored by the Honors Program!
I'll be joined by Snappin' Bug String Band, The Early Mays, and Willi Carlyle.
Looking forward to this being back in-person, and really looking forward to Philadelphia, where I was born and raised.
Three writers and musicians--me, Bremner Duthie, and Tom Andes--will have some fun with music and words
I'll have a few friends over and there will be music plus books and CDs for sale.
I'll be leading one of my workshops, So You Want to Go Places With Your Art, at Gemini Ink, terrific literary arts organization in San Antonio. Last time I did an event there was way back in 2005, I think. More information on the Gemini Ink website.
