It'll be a Northwest and Alaska year at AWP. I look forward to it, and seeing friends who didn't make San Antonio pre-pandemic, and Philadelphia as we strive to enter endemic times.

I'll have an accompanist or two for a Ken Waldman & The Wild Ones show, a Stage Door series offering at the historic Columbia Theatre in Longview. Guaranteed: not only a stellar accompanist in Rich Kuras, who used to live and teach in Longview, but a surprise or two. https://www.columbiatheatre.com/new-events/stagedoor-kenwaldman
It's the 27th anniversary of my March 2, 1996 plane crash near Nome. I'll celebrate in style with Portland musician friends, including the Cajun band, P.O. Sparkle Club. We'll have ourselves a music party at the famed White Eagle Saloon. Here's the link. It'll be a blast! https://www.mcmenamins.com/events/240592-ken-waldman-the-wild-ones
Southwind plays their regular third Wednesday gig, and I'll be by to play a few tunes, share a few poems and stories. It will be a showcase-length set. It'll be fun to visit with my favorite Elko band again!
I expect to make it to this year's Folk Alliance (and will be bringing new CDs for a change). Indie showcases?

I'll be visiting schools for a week, and one evening will lead a writing workshop and do a performance. Looking forward to a return to Slidell!
I'll be joining forces with Danielle Devlin of Canis Major Music to co-produce this year's showcase. It'll be similar to and different than prior years. We'll have some fun--eight great acts. Ken Waldman & Ilan Moss, Sean Dagher, Jefferson Hamer with Rob Jost, Jason Anick Acoustic Trio, Tamar Korn joined by Kornucopia, Yacouba Sissoko, Bad Penny Pleasuremakers, Tamar Ilana Duo. If you have an APAP badge you're our guest. Otherwise, it's a $60 ticket.
I assume it will be back in person this time around.
This will be a big event with lots of readers. I'll undoubtedly do a show-and-tell, probably read a poem, play a fiddle tune, and meet lots of wonderful folks. Because I'll be nearby, I can actually get to this!
Jerry Hagins will put a banjo together before your eyes and will then play it. Ken Waldman will share a new poem about banjo-building, will talk, tell a few stories, read a few more poems, play some fiddle tunes, and await Jerry's completed fiddle. A one-of-a-kind event. When the venue is 100% confirmed, we'll let you know. If it's outdoors, it'll depend on winter weather.
I'll featured at what will be a most excellent benefit show for the Moab Charter School, which is hosting me for four days this week. Expect fun, inspiration, surprises!
I'll be spending four days, Monday-Thursday December 12-15 at the absolutely wonderful Moab Charter School in beautiful Moab, Utah. It's an arts week, and we'll be writing, making music, and doing much more.
I'll be holding forth on fiddle and story at the excellent Rosey's Pizza in Carrizozo. This will take everyone to Alaska and back.
While in New Mexico I'll be doing a set at an assisted living home, thanks to the folks at the Flickinger Center, the fine performing arts center in the community.
I'll be at the school all day--mostly working with high school students. Looking forward to it!
Jim Phillips will be showing art from 1 pm to 4 pm. Me and Hogie Siebert will be playing fiddle, banjo, and more. Hogie will have jewelry too. I'll have books and CDs. Amazing! Iconic! And there will undoubtedly be more to this event. Hogie and I will be on sometime around 2:30, and we expect Jason Norris and Stella Lyn Norris, recent Alaska transplants, will be doing a music set of their own, and will join us at some point. Did I say iconic!
I'll be setting up shop this weekend in Huntsville for Lowe Mill's inaugural small press book fair, and will be doing a set over the weekend--time still to be determined.
I'll be doing a number of events in and around Coffeyville through the Humanities Dept. of the community college there. Tuesday evening, October 18, I'll be doing a public show for the whole community.
After the Arts NW conference, I'll be back at the Seabury School for a few sessions with writing and music.
I pulled the trigger and will be attending Arts Northwest conference in Tacoma. I didn't quite know how it would work out, but I'll be coming back from a week and a half in Alaska, and it all makes sense in its way (even if I have to get to southeast Kansas three days later.
