May18

Interior AK library show

Noel Wien Library, Fairbanks AK

The first section of the novel is set in Fairbanks, and it's where most of the music-making in the book takes place. Expect a super-fun event at the public library.

May17

Alaska Live

KUAC Radio/TV, Fairbanks AK

I'm not sure when it'll be airing but amid my time at 10th Planet Studios and my CD making--and my Wednesday public event at Noel Wien Library, I'll be dropping in to see Lori Neufeld to talk about the new book, and other matters, and of course to play some tunes, including Fairbanks Cabin Waltz. If it's aired later, I'll let you know! Maybe I'll have someone come by and join me. It'll be fun, and surprising, including for me.

May14

Anchorage Folk Festival

Cuddy Family Park, Anchorage AK

The 33rd annual festival is its first outdoor spring festival--traditionally it's over two weekends in late January. I'll be doing a short 4 pm Ken Waldman & The Wild Ones set with an accompanist, or two, or more to give a taste of my Sunday, June 5 Folk Festival sponsored show. Definitely looking forward to it, and looking to see friends old and new.

May12

Talkeetna library events

Talkeetna Library, Talkeetna AK

For now it looks like I'll be doing a young ones' story time in the morning, and a generative writing workshop in the late afternoon. Looking forward to it!

May7

Juneau show and celebration

McPhetres Hall, Juneau AK

We'll see who shows up--expect music-making with friends, plus enough storytelling/[poetry/performance to keep the evening moving. BYOB. The novel, Now Entering Alaska Time was started in Juneau, finished in Juneau, written mostly in Juneau, and is partially set in Juneau. It'll be a time to socialize (and buy a book or two).

May2

Haines event

Haines Borough Public Library

It looks like I'll be leading a generative writing workshop at 5 pm, and then doing a 6:30 show in behalf of the new book. Looking forward to it! And looking forward to reconnecting with long-time Haines pals, and making a few new friends. I'll be in town for 48 hours! The ferry will drop me off and take me away, just like with Skagway.

Apr30

Skagway event

Skagway Public Library, SKagway AK

First a "secret" kids' show at 3:15. Then a program at the library co-sponsored by Skaguay News Depot & Books. This is the start of the tour to celebrate the new novel, Now Entering Alaska Time. It's the perfect conclusion to National Poetry Month!

Apr30

National Independent Bookstore Day!

Skaguay News Depot & Books, SKagway AK

Before my afternoon events at the library, I'll be in the bookstore signing books and playing a few tunes, all to celebrate National Independent Bookstore Day.

Apr14

Colorado campus visit

CSU Pueblo, Pueblo, CO

I'll be visiting at least two classes and meeting with students. This is sponsored by the Honors Program!

Mar5

Texas workshop

Gemini Ink, San Antonio

I'll be leading one of my workshops, So You Want to Go Places With Your Art, at Gemini Ink, terrific literary arts organization in San Antonio. Last time I did an event there was way back in 2005, I think. More information on the Gemini Ink website.

Feb23

Folk Alliance International

Crown Center, Kansas City

Nope! This has been postponed until May (and I won't make it--will be in Alaska then). Looking forward to 2023!
